winter(win/tƏr), n.

Oh! cruel deceitful wind

how brisk and refreshing you begin

a welcomed foe,

deluding us

with cool promises

beauty and splendor

have you enticed

with vain spectacles,

only to cast

down

trample,    burn.

Oh! clever adversary

that you are,

a gentle breeze

turned

to hallowed fury,

beating down all

leaving them

barren

naked,    exposed.

And Death?

your closest companion,

befriends

the unprepared,

deserving

and undeserving alike

no mercy is found

within

your repugnant

breath.
