SUSANNA LEONARD HILL
The 9th Annual Halloweensie Writing Contest aahhhrrrooooOOOOO!!!!!
This year writers must write a 100 word Halloween story appropriate for children (children here defined as 12 and under) (title not included in the 100 words), using the words potion, cobweb, and trick.
Here’s my 87 word entry:
Spiders Spell
“Charlotte, can I help spin and spell? I’ll stay in perfect pro-potion.”
“Proportion, Shyler dear, the trick is perfect proportion.”
Charlotte spun the first thread across the walkway.
“Not too high. Sprinkle with dust to make a cobweb.”
“Like this, Charlotte?”
“Very nice, Shyler.”
“What word will we weave, Charlotte?
“Potion, Shyler…the spider spell.”
“Delightful!”
“Remember…drop a few lines.”
“Huh?”
“Dangling threads, Shyler dear, to tickle and tease.”
Web spun.
Night falls.
Up the walkway
come trick-or-treaters.
Tickle. Tease.
SCREAM
and two spiders
giggle
in perfect
proportion.
Fun story. Good luck.
